Luxembourg or Luxembourg City is the capital city of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which is a walkable city. Maximum one or two days will be enough to explore and it is a good option to include in the middle of your Europe Tour.
Luxembourg is one of the wealthiest countries in the world with a high per capita GDP and also one of the safest countries (Top 20).
You can explore this city by foot, bicycles or using public transport. If you are passionate in ancient architecture this world heritage city is a gem and you can find variety of designs and structures almost everywhere.
We arrived in Luxembourg from Switzerland via the train overnight. It was during mid April, 2017 and the Spring time for Luxembourg with a moderate cold climate. Train tickets were booked well in advance using NS International website. From the train station you can walk to your hotel or can take a taxi depending on the location. Train station is located in a very convenient place and there are plenty of hotels nearby.
If you're travelling in Europe, it is recommended to buy long distance train tickets in advance, so you will get a chance to buy at lower prices. When the travelling date is near the tickets can be expensive due to higher demand. Alternatively you can buy day passes or multi day passes depending on your tour plan and preference.
We stayed in ibis Styles Luxembourg Centre Gare Hotel in Luxembourg. Although the rooms were bit small (at least the one we booked) the hospitality was good and we enjoyed our stopover. For a short stay this place is ideal and you can have tea or coffee for free at any time.
Also there are plenty of food shops and restaurants, where you can find either western or eastern food which reflects the foreign influences on the country from the past.
Cathédrale Notre-Dame
